This is the story of Ahmet: Ahmet the Mule for the ones who dislike him, Ahmet the Village Headman who lived and died in Avşa, a small island in the Sea of Marmara. As the paradise-like nature of the island rotted before his eyes amidst concrete debris, tourist trash, and marine pollution, this autodidact tries to defend his land by means of ecological farming methods he learned from the books and his tiny little radio. He was an inspiration for actors, writers, and students. After his death we kept filming his family and friends. The story goes on: this time with his son, who is striving not only to keep the land but to uphold his values, and the island, now affected not only by degradation of rural life but also by the extreme pollution of a dying inner sea between Black Sea and Aegean: Marmara.
