Kawa Nemir undertakes a literary mission considered to be impossible: Translating James Joyce’s Ulysses into Kurdish. He flees Turkey and takes refuge at Anne Frank’s former house in Amsterdam, as a writer in residence. We follow Kawa as he brings together Joyce, Anne Frank, Puccini, Shakespeare and others in his struggle to nourish his mother tongue. On the 100th anniversary of the publishing of Ulysses, a ‘Bloomsday in Kurdish’ is on its way.
