After his death, Fernando Ruiz Vergara left behind dozens of notes and film scripts that he was never able to make. The Andalusian filmmaker had directed only one documentary, Rocío, stifled by the judicial censorship suffered in the early years of democracy in Spain. Since then, his projects have remained dormant in imagination and desire. In “Resistance Reels”, the filmmakers recount these dreamed projects in order to reinterpret them from the present as a gesture of resistance.
