When I was little I was told that my grandfather Pepe had died. Later I found that he had emigrated to Argentina after the Spanish Civil War in search of a fortune. My grandmother María, never heard any more about him. On her own she had to leave Spain to raise her three children. That was the beginning of the familiar diaspora that kept us scattered around the world. A story that only offers questions and hides unexpected discoveries: pieces of the fragmented image of my grandfather, of whom I have only got an incomplete map. (Alejandro Alvarado)
